The
World Wide Web used to be the
World Wide Wait, As old timers would recollect, around 1995-96 and a bit later, the Internet was pretty young. The infrastructure was in a condition that could best be described as ‘barely there’. Accessibility was no where as easy as it is today. But the user base, fueled by widespread positive media coverage, was growing. In leaps and bounds. Faster than the pace at which the access infrastructure was expanding. Given these conditions, it was quite difficult to get online in the first place, and when there, it was still more difficult to access web sites in reasonable time-frames. It was during these times that mainstream news media started running the cliché: The World Wide Web is turning out to be the World Wide Wait, but it is a Worthwhile Wait.
